I am 23 weeks pregnant with our son today. It is a marker that I am both excited and reluctant to meet….
Excited because this is my 5th pregnancy & 2nd child.
We are here after 6 years of putting on hold, trying, waiting, hoping….after a molar pregnancy and 2 miscarriages. We are thrilled that we have been blessed with a second child but…
Reluctant to fully ‘be pregnant’, scared to fully embrace the joy of this journey ‘in case it goes wrong again’….. I will be nearly 42 when he arrives….ARGHHHHH!!!
I am already carrying the pelvic floor dysfunctions from Number 1: stress urinary incontinence and prolapse, I am peri-menopausal and have an auto-immune thyroid issue AND I have developed the most beautiful varicose veins that run the entire length of my leg….all in all, this pregnancy is not the plain sailing of Number 1!!
This pregnancy has been very different from my first – for a start, I have gained more weight faster – I have not wanted to eat anything that does not resemble carbs…healthy foods that I would normally love has tasted strange, often revolting (no, not my cooking before you ask…..!) so I have resorted to toast and cereal….a lot! Thankfully I am coming through that phase now but that also brings with it a self esteem and body awareness that I didn’t worry about before!
So, here I am at just over the halfway point and AT LAST feeling relatively human again after a long period of getting exhausted very quickly.
I want to use my knowledge as a Fit-Pro and personal experience to help other pregnant Mums to exercise correctly, eat better and to feel confident about themselves during this transitional time. What better time to do this than now, whilst I have a growing bump and can demonstrate the adaptions of the exercises and understand the challenges at the same time?
I want to help Mums to feel empowered to make better choices for themselves and not be bogged down in the plethora of information (and often incorrect information) that is available on the net. I want to help connect Mums as being pregnant and a new Mum. Being a new Mum is exhausting and amazing….but it is also lonely and isolating so I want to help create a community where no-one has to feel like that. All in all, I want to help create MUM-FIDENT women….confident Mums.
I will be launching MUMFIDENT soon – an online pilot service via Facebook where you can grab daily snippets of information on the public page or, join my private MUMFIDENT group and receive workouts, recipes, access to the community forum and be empowered on your pregnancy journey!
I feel a bit like you do when you go into early labour….and don’t know what to expect – I know what I want the outcome to be but it’s all a bit unknown….
Let’s do it!!!
